About Us

Cheryl Quatrano
Founder and CEO

Cheryl Quatrano served as an educator in the New York City Department of Education for over 36 years. She started her career as a technology and mathematics teacher, and then went on to many administrative positions such as Assistant Principal, District Testing and Assessment Director, Magnet Schools Program Coordinator, Supplemental Educational Services Coordinator, 21st Century Schools Coordinator.

She then was promoted to the position of Regional Instructional Supervisor of Gifted Education, where she became a member of the Citywide Gifted Education Advisory Committee. During this time, she also established 46 Schoolwide Enrichment programs in NYC schools. She eventually opened her own middle school in Bayside, New York, the BELL Academy, MS294. In less than three years, the school was recognized as a national and international model, and ranked in the 98th percentile of student academic progress in NYC. It has become a highly sought-after school and has achieved outstanding records of student admissions into Specialized NYC High Schools.

She also trains other administrators at Confratute, an international weeklong emersion of SEM for educators which takes place at the University of Connecticut yearly. She received numerous awards and honors for her outstanding work as not only an educator, but as a team builder. She and several staff members then opened a second school, the Veritas Academy, in September 2013. It is the groundbreaking first Renzulli SEM high school! The shared vision of Dr. Renzulli, Ms. Quatrano, and their team was for the graduates of Veritas to gain admittance into the finest undergraduate programs of their choice and to eventually pursue careers in which they can fulfill their passions. This goal was fulfilled and exceeded, with graduation rates in the 90% and above. Both schools have been recognized as models of excellence and have received many awards and have had visitors from all over the globe.

She attributes the countless successes to the foundation of the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM), the unique social-emotional supports her team has put into place, and the creative structures that support all this work. Now, in her retirement, she has chosen to consult with schools, to bring improvement to their practices.
